Leapmotor D99 minivan hits the market: all-wheel drive as standard and a fishing bench

Leapmotor has launched its D99 van for sale. As usual, the new model features rich equipment and attractive prices.

The first minivan in its lineup with the D99 index was announced by the Leapmotor brand back in late 2025, with the interior revealed in May this year. Now a full presentation has been held in China, the price list has been published, and sales have begun. Like the brand’s other models, the van is offered as a plug-in hybrid or a fully electric vehicle. Moreover, both modifications already come with all-wheel drive as standard.

The Leapmotor D99 minivan features two-tier headlights, similar to the flagship Leapmotor D19 crossover. In higher trim levels, a projector can be integrated into the headlights. Other exterior design features include flush door handles and a light bar that can display simple animations.

The van is 5280 mm long, 1995 mm wide, and 1880 or 1900 mm tall depending on the version. The wheelbase is the same 3110 mm as the D19 crossover. The minivan rides on 19-inch wheels.

The front section of the seven-seat cabin is the same as the crossover’s. The one-box model gets similar instrumentation, steering wheel, separate screens for the instrument cluster (10.25 inches) and multimedia system (17.3 inches), and a two-tier central tunnel with a wireless charging pad and open cupholders on top. Starting with the second-highest trim level, a box with heating and cooling functions integrated into the tunnel and a ceiling screen for rear passengers appear.

In addition, all versions except the cheapest have rotating second-row seats: they automatically turn toward passengers about to get in, and can also be rotated to face the third row. A full-size table can be installed between the second and third rows. Another feature of the Leapmotor D99 is the flip-over rear bench (standard equipment). The company calls this the “fishing mode.”

The standard equipment list for the Leapmotor D99 also includes: a head-up display, heating, ventilation, and massage for first- and second-row seats, fold-down tables built into the front seatbacks, three-zone climate control, and an autopilot system with numerous sensors, cameras, radars, and a lidar above the windshield. More expensive versions add air suspension, extended power seat adjustments, and heated rear bench.

The hybrid Leapmotor D99 has an 800-volt architecture. The powertrain of this minivan includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (136 hp) operating as a generator and two electric motors that together produce 408 hp and 525 Nm. The hybrid is equipped with an 80.3 kWh battery from CATL, offering 480 km of pure electric range on the CLTC cycle, with a total range of 1160 km.

The electric D99 uses a 1000-volt architecture, with its two motors producing 557 hp and 625 Nm. The electric van is fitted with a 115 kWh CATL battery, offering a range of 700 km.

The hybrid will cost between 249,800 and 309,800 yuan, equivalent to roughly 2.76 million to 3.4 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The electric Leapmotor D99 minivan is priced at 259,800 to 319,800 yuan (2.87 million to 3.5 million rubles).
