Subaru Levorg Layback wagon with different design and features: sales have begun
Subaru has brought the hybrid version of the Levorg Layback crossover-wagon to its domestic market. The new model is offered in two trim levels, with several optional design packages also available.
The updated pure-petrol Subaru Levorg wagon and its “off-road” Levorg Layback version with its own distinct styling were presented in Japan in early June. At the same time, the brand announced the S:HEV hybrid modification for the “crossover.” The “traditional” cars went on sale immediately after the presentation. Now the petrol-electric Levorg Layback S:HEV has also become available to order.
The hybrid wagon’s powertrain is the same as that of the equivalent Subaru Crosstrek and Subaru Forester versions. It consists of a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine (160 hp), a starter-generator, a traction electric motor (120 hp), and a modest 1.1 kWh battery. All Levorg versions come standard with all-wheel drive. Subaru also stated that the hybrid’s suspension and steering have been recalibrated.
The Subaru Levorg Layback S:HEV also features an original exterior. The hybrid five-door gets a new radiator grille, headlights, and front bumper, while the air intake has been removed from the hood. The new model is available in two trims – Premium Black EX and Premium EX. The first (which is also the base version), as one might guess, is distinguished by black trim. Several design packages are also available at an extra cost, allowing buyers to change the body kit or grille. Inside, all Levorg family cars generally mirror each other.
The hybrid measures 4735 mm in length versus 4770 mm for the “traditional” Subaru Levorg Layback, and its height is reduced by 20 mm to 1550 mm. The wheelbase, on the other hand, has been stretched by 5 mm – now 2675 mm. Ground clearance has decreased – 180 mm instead of 200 mm for the “crossover” with only an internal combustion engine. The trunk volume remains unchanged at 429 liters (including the underfloor storage).
The standard equipment list for the Subaru Levorg Layback S:HEV includes: LED lighting, 18-inch wheels, a power tailgate with hands-free opening function, Nappa leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a multimedia system with an 11.6-inch vertical tablet, and heated steering wheel and seats. Of course, the EyeSight driver assistance suite is also included. The top version additionally features a Harman Kardon audio system (optional for the base hybrid). An extra power outlet in the trunk can be ordered as an option.
The hybrid all-wheel-drive Subaru Levorg Layback S:HEV wagon is priced at 4,246,000 – 4,521,000 yen, which is equivalent to approximately 2.04 million – 2.17 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The refreshed “traditional” Subaru Levorg and Levorg Layback with the 1.8-liter turbo petrol engine (177 hp) start at 3,630,000 and 4,059,000 yen respectively (1.75 million and 1.95 million rubles).
