New version of Lada Iskra appears – a station wagon with a six-speed manual transmission.

The recommended retail price for this version of the Russian brand’s five-door model is already known: it costs no less than 1,565,000 rubles.

In the hierarchy of the Russian brand, the Lada Iskra occupies a market niche between the Granta and the Vesta. The current family includes a sedan, a regular station wagon, and a “raised” five-door with the Cross suffix added to its name. According to Autostat’s calculations, over the first five months of this year, the Iskra sold 12,204 units in Russia, accounting for 2.5% of the entire automotive market (for comparison, the Granta’s share is 9.9%, and the Vesta’s is 4.5%).

Now, the AVTOVAZ press service has announced an expansion of the Iskra lineup: the company has prepared a station wagon – the Lada Iskra SW – with the “senior” 106-horsepower 1.6-liter engine, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. It is worth noting that such “hardware” was originally offered for both the sedan and the cross-wagon, but only now has it appeared in the standard five-door as well.

It should be noted that previously, the Lada Iskra SW was equipped only with the 90-horsepower 1.6-liter engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, as well as with the 106-horsepower engine, which comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission. In addition to the different powertrain, the new version of the Iskra wagon also gets 15-inch stamped steel wheels.

The wagon with the new “hardware” takes 12.7 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h (for comparison, the regular five-door with the same engine and automatic transmission takes 13.9 seconds). Its top speed is 174 km/h (versus 166 km/h for the CVT version), and fuel consumption in the combined cycle for the new model is 7.8 liters per 100 km (for the automatic version – 7.2 liters per 100 km).

The equipment list for the Lada Iskra SW with the 106-horsepower engine and 6MT includes: a pair of front airbags, air conditioning, cruise control, rain and light sensors, heated mirrors and washer nozzles, heated front seats, the Lada Enjoy Evo infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, and Lada Connect Start telematics.

The recommended retail price for the Lada Iskra SW with the new powertrain is already known – 1,565,000 rubles. For comparison, the price of the regular station wagon with the 90-horsepower engine (excluding current discounts) is 1,527,000 rubles, while the version with the 106-horsepower engine and automatic transmission costs no less than 1,677,000 rubles. In turn, purchasing the Iskra sedan with the 106-horsepower engine and 6MT will cost 1,527,000 / 1,607,000 rubles, and the cross-wagon with similar “hardware” – 1,657,000 / 1,737,000 rubles (available in Drive / Techno trims).

Meanwhile, AVTOVAZ is preparing a modernized classic off-roader, the Lada Niva Legend. As became known at the beginning of this month, such a model will receive an engine from the Niva Travel, revised chassis and body, other electronic systems, and other updates.
