Genesis Unveils Magma GT Concept and GMR-001 Hypercar Design Models
Genesis unveiled the ‘Magma GT Concept’ and ‘GMR-001 Hypercar Design Model’ for the first time in Asia at the ‘2026 Busan Mobility Show’ press conference held at BEXCO in Busan on Friday, the 26th.
At the press conference, Hyundai Motor Group CCO (Chief Creative Officer) and CDO (Chief Design Officer) President Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis Business Division Head Executive Vice President Lee Si-hyeok, and Genesis Magma Racing driver André Lotterer took the stage as presenters.
‘Magma GT Concept’
Genesis is showcasing the ‘Magma GT Concept’ for the first time in Asia, representing the pinnacle of ‘luxury high-performance,’ a key pillar of the brand’s expansion.
First unveiled at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France in November last year, the Magma GT Concept is a model that embodies performance and emotional value based on Genesis’s design philosophy of ‘Athletic Elegance.’
First, the low front section, wide fenders, and mid-ship proportions—a sophisticated reinterpretation of GT (Grand Tourer) race car elements—come together in harmony.
In addition, the boat tail shape that narrows toward the rear and the low, wide body proportions reveal the vehicle’s performance through its silhouette. ※ Boat tail: A form where the rear of the body narrows toward the back like the stern of a ship.
The interior design of the Magma GT Concept combines an independent structure for the driver and passenger seats with a driver-centric layout, harmoniously providing both analog and digital information.
The analog instrument cluster was designed with inspiration from the precision mechanical timepieces used in motorsports. Additionally, meticulously designed physical controls maximize the immersive feel of operation.
Digital information is integrated in a restrained manner, delivering intuitive information without compromising the driver’s concentration.
Full-Scale Design Model of the ‘GMR-001 Hypercar’ That Ran 24 Hours at Le Mans
Genesis is displaying for the first time in Asia the full-scale design model that served as the foundation for the ‘GMR-001 Hypercar,’ which is responsible for the brand’s debut season in the ‘FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) World Endurance Championship (WEC).’
Based on this model, first unveiled in April 2025 at ‘Genesis House New York,’ the brand’s cultural complex space located in Manhattan, New York, USA, the dedicated livery design for the ’24 Hours of Le Mans’ held from the 13th to the 14th (local time) was created. ※ Livery: The unique exterior design applied to race cars, including paint, sponsor logos, and graphic patterns.
Genesis infused this model with Korean sentiment and unique identity.
First, a Taegeukgi (Korean flag) is attached to the front of the vehicle, and the Korean word ‘마그마’ (Magma) is inscribed in various places, revealing a brand identity reflecting Korean sentiment.
A gradient color scheme that transitions from bright orange at the front of the vehicle to a deeper red toward the rear visually expresses explosive energy and escalating speed.
Furthermore, based on Genesis’s signature Two Lines design extending from the front to the side, the aerodynamic structure and sense of volume are completed, allowing Genesis’s identity to be recognized from every angle.
From Le Mans to Busan… Expanding Customer Experience Programs in Motorsports
Genesis, which announced its entry into motorsports in December 2024, made its debut race 499 days later this past April at the ‘6 Hours of Imola,’ the opening round of the 2026 WEC held in Italy.
In May, the brand secured its first championship points at the season’s second race, the ‘6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps’ in Belgium, and on the 13th–14th (local time), the GMR-001 Hypercar #19 successfully completed the ’24 Hours of Le Mans,’ the world’s most prestigious endurance race, demonstrating its presence on the motorsports stage.
Genesis continues its journey from Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, and Le Mans in Busan.
First, André Lotterer, the Genesis Magma Racing driver and two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner, attended the press conference to share his reflections on competing in the WEC and future plans.
Additionally, a ‘Genesis Magma Racing Zone’ has been set up within the booth, offering visitors a customer experience program where they can become part of the Genesis Magma Racing team.

In the Magma Zone, visitors can experience the GV60 Magma’s powerful driving and start-up sounds, and check out performance parts applicable to high-performance vehicles.
Genesis plans to provide an in-depth customer experience at the Busan Mobility Show by sharing the narrative of how the intensity and dynamism of motorsports, and the capabilities built through motorsports, ultimately translate into production vehicles.
