GMC unveils new large Sierra 1500 pickup with revised engine lineup
The full-size truck of the American brand has been updated following its closest relative – last week, the refreshed Chevrolet Silverado made its debut.
The GMC brand, owned by the American corporation General Motors, has been producing the full-size pickup Sierra of the current fifth generation since 2018, with its first update in 2021. Sales of this model in the US have been growing over the past three years: by the end of 2025, official dealers sold a total of 353,347 units, which is 18.3% more than the year before. However, this year the model is currently showing a “minus”: in the first quarter, the truck sold 75,607 units nationwide (3.7% less than in January-March 2025).
Now the GMC brand has presented the once-again updated Sierra 1500 pickup (positioned by the company as the next generation), which follows its closest relative – last week, the refreshed Chevrolet Silverado made its debut. The model’s exterior has been changed with an enlarged radiator grille of a different shape, new headlights (with an available welcome animation function, including for the taillights), and a redesigned lower section of the front bumper.
The interior of the GMC Sierra 1500 has also received a batch of updates. The top-of-the-line Denali Ultimate trim includes: a 12.2-inch virtual instrument cluster, a 16.3-inch central touchscreen for the infotainment system, an 11.5-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, as well as a 15-inch head-up display and a camera instead of the rearview mirror (8.5 inches).
Additionally, the refreshed large pickup’s cabin features physical buttons for controlling a number of functions, a wireless charging device for two smartphones, a panoramic roof, a new MultiPro center console, natural wood trim elements, in some versions – a storage compartment behind the central touchscreen, as well as the Super Cruise system suite. The AT4X trim comes with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, Multimatic shock absorbers, firmer seats, and a different steering wheel.
During the update of the GMC Sierra 1500, the engine lineup was revised (on the same principle as the Chevrolet Silverado). The lineup will now include new naturally aspirated V8 engines (with modernized combustion, cooling, and fuel injection systems) with displacements of 5.7 and 6.6 liters. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed details about their power and torque.
In addition, the lineup still includes the 3.0-liter Duramax V6 turbodiesel (maximum power of the current version is 309 hp), as well as the inline four-cylinder TurboMax engine with a displacement of 2.7 liters and an output of 314 hp. Both are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission.
It is known that the updated full-size GMC Sierra 1500 pickup will arrive at dealerships before the end of 2026, with prices to be announced later. On the American market, the starting version of the current truck costs $38,300 (equivalent to approximately 2.97 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the top-tier version is priced at no less than $84,400 (about 6.55 million rubles).
