Hyundai Motor Group partners with Chabi to accelerate expansion of Plug & Charge (PnC) ecosystem
Hyundai Motor Group has joined forces with CHAEVI, the nation’s No. 1 private fast-charging operator, to accelerate the introduction of ‘Plug & Charge (PnC)’ and provide a better charging experience for electric vehicle (EV) customers.
On Monday, the 29th, Hyundai Motor Group announced that it has completed the application of PnC technology with CHAEVI and will begin PnC services at CHAEVI charging stations nationwide.
PnC is an international standard technology that automatically handles everything from member authentication to charging and payment simply by plugging the charging cable into the EV.
Unlike regular EV charging stations that require a membership authentication card or credit card, charging stations equipped with PnC apply encrypted communication between the vehicle and the charger, allowing customers to enjoy a convenient and secure charging service simply by connecting the charging cable.
This collaboration is the first tangible outcome of Hyundai Motor Group’s ‘Domestic PnC Network Expansion Plan’ announced in December last year. Previously, PnC was available primarily at 83 E-pit ultra-fast charging stations operated by Hyundai Motor Group, but with this technology integration, it can now also be used at approximately 1,500 CHAEVI charging stations nationwide.
Going forward, Hyundai Motor Group plans to gradually expand the domestic PnC charging ecosystem by collaborating with other major domestic charging operators in line with the government’s PnC expansion policy.
