Hyundai Motor Opens ‘Suwon High-Tech Center
Hyundai Motor’s service repair hub ‘Suwon High-Tech Center’, embodying the company’s service philosophy, has opened its doors. Hyundai Motor held the opening ceremony for the Suwon High-Tech Center (30 Jungbup-daero, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do) on Tuesday, the 30th, with official operations beginning July 1st.
Attendees at the event included Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Jang Jae-hoon, Hyundai Motor President José Muñoz, Hyundai Glovis President Lee Kyu-bok, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Vice President Lee Han-woo, Hyundai Mobis Vice President Son Chan-mo, and Seo Architects CEO Seo Eul-ho, among other officials.
The Suwon High-Tech Center is a specialized high-difficulty repair facility established by Hyundai Motor after relocating its existing center from Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, to Giheung-gu, Yongin.
The Suwon High-Tech Center features a smart mobility-based automated service environment and capabilities for high-difficulty vehicle repair and quality analysis. Based on this, it will handle tasks requiring precision diagnosis and respond to customer demand in cooperation with Blue Hands service centers nationwide.
Hyundai Motor plans to operate the Suwon High-Tech Center as a service hub that responds to changes in the future mobility environment, going beyond a simple repair facility, and to provide customers with the highest quality of service and experience.
Distinctive architectural design and customer/operations-centered space planning to create a service landmark
The Suwon High-Tech Center spans two basement levels and five above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 51,497㎡ (approximately 15,578 pyeong), making it the largest facility in the southern Gyeonggi region.
The first floor features the customer-exclusive lounge ‘Atrium’, vehicle intake area, consultation booths, and a Genesis merchandise display space. Floors 2 through 4 are dedicated repair spaces by brand for inspection and maintenance of Hyundai and Genesis vehicles. The fifth floor houses employee offices, meeting rooms, a cafeteria, and other welfare facilities.
Additionally, the first basement level is equipped with a parts warehouse linked to the computerized management system, and the outdoor area includes charging spaces for electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.
The Suwon High-Tech Center was designed to function as a landmark representing the southern Gyeonggi region, going beyond a mere repair hub.
A differentiated exterior was achieved by applying a circular tower design that departs from the conventional rectangular form. Louvers that control light inflow and reflection were applied to the building’s facade to induce natural lighting and enhance the building’s three-dimensional presence and symbolism.
On the rooftop, eco-friendly technologies such as a shading system adjusted to the seasonal and hourly solar altitude, along with solar power facilities, were introduced to maximize energy savings and emphasize the value of sustainability that Hyundai Motor pursues.
The interior spaces were designed with both customer service experience and space usability in mind.
The first-floor Atrium is a space where abundant landscaping and natural lighting harmonize, featuring a circular structure open in all directions from the center. This allows customers to more transparently view the entire service process, from consultation to vehicle intake, and enjoy an integrated experience where customers, vehicles, and technology are connected.
In addition, the main spaces on each floor are arranged in a circular layout around the central elevators and stairwells to ensure convenient movement and equitable lighting and views. The office spaces are designed with a modular structure, allowing flexible partitioning and operation according to each department’s work characteristics or needs.
Differentiated service completed through rapid repair, accurate diagnosis, and attentive care
The Suwon High-Tech Center is the first high-tech center to reinterpret Hyundai Motor’s service philosophy of ‘Speed, Accuracy, and Care’ in line with the future mobility environment.
First, the Suwon High-Tech Center established Hyundai Motor’s first smart mobility-based automated repair environment. This enhances repair efficiency and reduces customer waiting time, providing ‘rapid’ service.
Smart robot technologies such as AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot), AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle), and ACR (Autonomous Case-handling Robot) were adopted for parts transportation, and an unmanned car lift system was introduced for moving vehicles under repair, minimizing worker waiting time and optimizing workflow.
Additionally, by utilizing Hyundai Motor’s remote diagnosis service platform ‘RDSP (Remote Diagnosis Service Platform)’, customer vehicle data is pre-analyzed before arrival and optimal repair solutions are derived, reducing the time required for repairs.
The Suwon High-Tech Center provides ‘accurate’ vehicle inspection services by analyzing even the causes of high-difficulty defects based on data-driven precision diagnosis capabilities.
A Data & NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) analysis lab was established, using equipment that diagnoses noise, imaging, and controller communications to identify even hard-to-diagnose defects. A joint quality analysis room was also set up to share analysis results in real time with research institutes and relevant headquarters departments when quality issues arise, enabling rapid cause investigation.
In addition, by operating a Regional Service Training Center (RTC) that provides Blue Hands engineers with theoretical and hands-on training on new vehicle structures, new technology diagnosis, and the use of new diagnostic equipment, the center will also serve as a key hub for enhancing the technical capabilities of Hyundai Motor’s repair specialists and elevating service quality.
The Suwon High-Tech Center introduces a 1:1 dedicated engineer assignment system, where a single engineer takes full responsibility for the entire process from intake consultation to work completion and vehicle delivery, providing customers with ‘attentive’ and meticulous service.
Furthermore, it operates on a 100% reservation system to reduce unnecessary waiting time, and digital services such as kiosk check-in, real-time notification messages, and mobile payment were introduced to enhance customer convenience.
For example, when a customer requiring repair makes a reservation, the center assigns a dedicated engineer in advance and establishes a customized repair plan based on vehicle data and the customer’s reservation details.
Afterwards, customers who visit the center on the scheduled day quickly complete check-in via unmanned kiosks and receive guidance on consultation order and booth location through mobile notification messages.
Customers who complete an actual vehicle-based consultation with their dedicated engineer can wait in the lounge while repairs are underway and check the real-time repair progress via mobile.
After repairs are completed, customers receive notification via mobile message and, following an explanation from the responsible engineer, can complete vehicle pickup through mobile payment.
Hyundai Motor plans to progressively develop the Suwon High-Tech Center and 22 other high-tech centers nationwide into specialized hubs for precision diagnosis and high-difficulty repair, responding to the future mobility era of SDV and electrification.
Meanwhile, starting Tuesday, June 30th, Hyundai Motor will sequentially release a series of videos on its official YouTube channel introducing the architecture, technology, and overall customer experience of the Suwon High-Tech Center.
Then, on Wednesday, July 1st, a video produced to commemorate the opening of the Suwon High-Tech Center, titled 〈High-Tech, Becoming a Concerto for You〉, will be unveiled.
In this video, Hyundai Motor likens the Suwon High-Tech Center, where complex technologies and systems operate in organic harmony, to an orchestra, with the Beha Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Kim Bong-mi participating in the performance to enhance the video’s quality.
Through this video release, Hyundai Motor plans to convey the value of the Suwon High-Tech Center, where precision technology and expertise harmonize.
