Nissan Frontier frame pickup gets anniversary special edition
A special version of the Japanese brand’s truck is entering the American market, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the United States, and it will be produced in a limited run.
The current body-on-frame Nissan Frontier pickup of the third generation, intended for the US auto market, debuted in 2021. A couple of weeks ago, the “official” office of the Japanese brand announced what changes the 2027 model year truck received. One of the main changes was the introduction of a new version with the addition of Sport Edition to the name. And now it has become known about the appearance of a special anniversary Frontier variant.
The Nissan Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. The company decided to release such a pickup in a limited edition for the July 4th celebration, with the series totaling 2,500 units. Production of the special variant will start next month. It is reported that no price premium is planned for the special version.
Although this is not surprising, considering that the Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition has only one change and it is quite modest. As reported by the Nissan press service, the anniversary pickup received a redesigned design of the large model name inscription on the tailgate – with a pattern of stars and stripes (from the US flag), in a monochrome black-and-gray finish. And that, in fact, is all the “extras.”
The special version of the body-on-frame pickup is based on the top-tier Pro-4X trim, meaning the truck comes with Bilstein shock absorbers, additional underbody protection, an electronic rear differential lock, as well as original 17-inch wheels fitted with a set of off-road tires.
The “guts,” obviously, are standard for the Nissan Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition: under the hood of this all-wheel-drive pickup sits a 314-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine, with a maximum torque of 381 Nm. The engine works in conjunction with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The price of the special version starts at $42,190, which is equivalent to approximately 3.3 million rubles at the current exchange rate.
At the American office of Nissan, it was noted that the release of the variant with the 250th Anniversary Edition suffix also coincides with the 1-millionth Frontier unit, which recently rolled off the assembly line at the company’s plant located in Canton (Mississippi). It is worth noting that initially, in 1998, production of the model started at the facility in Smyrna (Tennessee), but in 2012 the pickup changed its home. By the way, the V6 engine for this model is also produced in Tennessee, at a plant located in the city of Decherd.
Sales of the Nissan Frontier pickup on the American market at the end of 2025 dipped slightly – by 4.8% to 66,478 units. However, already at the beginning of 2026 the situation began to improve: in the first quarter, customers purchased 21,411 trucks, which is 31.5% more than in January-March 2025. Very soon, 2027 model year pickups should reach dealers.
