Tank 300 off-roader updated once again: official photos
The Tank brand is preparing to introduce a newly modernized entry-level off-roader. The model has changed in appearance. In addition, it now has a long-wheelbase version and a V6 gasoline engine.
It was with this body-on-frame vehicle that the history of the Tank brand began. Let us recall that the Great Wall concern presented the car in 2020 as the Wey Tank 300. However, the model proved so popular that Tank was eventually spun off into a standalone brand for SUVs. Since then, the lineup has been expanded with three more SUVs with indices 400, 500, and 700. Last year, the entry-level off-roader was updated in its home market – it received a redesigned interior and a diesel engine. But in 2026, Tank 300 sales in China are declining, although it remains the brand’s bestseller. According to BestSellingCarsBlog, from January to May, 20,792 units were sold, which is 31% less compared to the same period in 2025. Against this backdrop, the Tank 300 has been modernized again – the first official photos have been published.
This time, the exterior has been redesigned. All versions have received a new mesh grille with a large Tank inscription instead of an emblem. The more expensive variants feature even more massive bumpers and an autopilot with a lidar above the windshield. Inside, a new steering wheel has been installed; otherwise, the interior remains unchanged.
The certificate for the Tank 300 with the new body kit has already been entered into the database of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. According to it, the length of such an SUV is 4,886 mm, width – 1,984 mm, height – 1,960 mm, wheelbase – 3,010 mm. Whether the dimensions of the base version have changed is still unknown. The dimensions of the pre-facelift Tank 300 for China are: 4,750/1,930/1,903 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
The main technical update for the “traditional” off-roader is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine with a “mild hybrid” 48-volt assist. The engine produces 360 hp. The Chinese also report that the output of the base 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder has increased from 220 to 238 hp. The 2.4-liter turbodiesel (186 hp) remains in the lineup. There is one transmission for all – a nine-speed automatic.
In China, the entry-level SUV is also available as a plug-in hybrid with the Hi4-T setup featuring a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine, one electric motor, and a battery with a capacity of approximately 37 kWh. Total output is 422 hp. According to preliminary data, alongside the Tank 300 Hi4-T, the home market will also offer a new hybrid Tank 300 Hi4-Z, which has two electric motors and a battery with a capacity of 60 kWh. Regardless of the configuration, the off-roader comes standard with all-wheel drive.
All details about the updated Tank 300 for China will be revealed next week. As for Russia, last year the SUV was updated under its own program. And a month ago, it was announced that the Tank 300 has been registered at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant.
