New Mercedes-AMG CLA 45: 680-hp three-motor setup, 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds

The “charged” versions of the German brand’s sedan and estate made their debut at the recently started Goodwood Festival of Speed (UK).
Mercedes-Benz presented the third-generation coupe-shaped CLA sedan in March 2025, and in July of the same year, the family was joined by an estate with the Shooting Brake suffix. They are based on the MMA platform (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture), which was developed for compact vehicles in the Entry Luxury segment. The lineup has now been expanded with “hot” versions – the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+.

The presentation of the “charged” new models, prepared by the Mercedes-AMG division, took place as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which started yesterday. The fully electric all-wheel-drive Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 sedan and estate feature a three-motor powertrain: one electric motor is located on the front axle, and two on the rear axle. The total maximum power of this system is 680 hp, with a torque of 1759 Nm.

The new model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, regardless of body type (measured after traveling 1 foot, i.e., approximately 30 cm), with a standard measurement figure of 3.0 seconds. The top speed of the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 is electronically limited to 250 km/h, which can be increased to 270 km/h with the AMG Dynamic Plus package.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ features an 800-volt architecture. Its system includes a traction battery with a capacity of 94 kWh. The maximum range on a single charge exceeds 670 km for the sedan and 640 km for the estate. With fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes, or for a range of 270 km in 10 minutes.

The overall length of the sedan and estate is 4742 mm, with a wheelbase of 2790 mm. The width of the modifications is also identical at 1859 mm, the height of the four-door is 1469 mm, and the Shooting Brake variant is 1471 mm. In the first case, the trunk volume is 390 liters, in the second – 450 liters, with both modifications also featuring a 101-liter storage compartment under the hood. The drag coefficient for the sedan is 0.23, and for the estate – 0.26.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 features an AMG Ride Control sports suspension with steel springs, as well as additional Comfort, Sport, and AMGForce S+ modes (among other things, providing an original engine sound) in addition to the six AMG Dynamic Select driving modes (responsible for adjusting chassis response, steering, electronic stability control, and the recuperation system). The “charged” new CLA is equipped with a braking system featuring six-piston calipers and discs with a diameter of 390 mm at the front and 350 mm at the rear.

The “hot” sedan and estate differ from the standard Mercedes-Benz CLA through differently styled lower bumpers with an active air intake, a signature Panamericana grille insert in place of the radiator grille (optional with lighting), and sports side skirts. The models come with 19- or 20-inch wheels, as well as an active electrically operated spoiler – on the edge of the trunk lid for the sedan, and at the top of the tailgate for the estate. The interior features a sports steering wheel, different trim, and AMG décor.

The sales start date for the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+, as well as the prices for the new “charged” sedan and estate, will be announced later.
