New Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 Crossover: First Technical Details Revealed

“Live” images, as well as information about the dimensions and specifications of the upcoming crossover, primarily aimed at the Chinese market, have appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

While the German concern is seeking ways out of the current crisis, its regional divisions continue to move at the previously set pace. Thus, as of today, the Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 crossover is preparing for its full premiere in China, which will launch an entirely new ID.Aura family. Its production is handled by the joint venture FAW-Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 crossover was shown by the manufacturer back in April 2026, ahead of the Beijing Auto Show. At that time, only the exterior of the announced new model was demonstrated, albeit immediately in its production form. Now, “live” images of this SUV have appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with the first technical details.

The ID.Aura T6 features a traditional five-door body with a slightly sloping roof equipped with full roof rails, semi-concealed door handles, stampings on the hood and side panels, and black plastic cladding around the body perimeter, including rounded wheel arch covers. The model is equipped with a lidar on the roof edge, as well as two-tier headlights, where the upper part houses LED daytime running lights connected to the central logo, and the lower part contains the main headlight units.

The lower part of the front bumper integrates a trapezoidal air intake, while the profile is adorned with two-tone or black alloy wheels sized 19 and 20 inches (depending on the version). The rear features a sculpted spoiler with an integrated brake light at the top of the fifth door, as well as a “mono light” stretching from one rear fender to the other across the entire width of the trunk, with the brand logo centered.

The overall length of the Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 is 4811 mm, width is 1879 mm, height is 1648 mm, and the wheelbase of the new model is 2836 mm. As Kolesa.ru previously reported, the upcoming crossover is based on the CEA platform with an 800-volt architecture, developed jointly with Xpeng. The same “platform” underpins the larger VW ID.Unyx 08 (length – 5000 mm, wheelbase – 3030 mm), which was created under the Volkswagen Anhui project (existing within the partnership with JAC).

The company is still keeping the interior of the new mid-size crossover a secret; it is known that it will be designed for five occupants. Details about it will likely emerge closer to the premiere. It is known that the ID.Aura T6 is equipped with a driver assistance system developed jointly by Taiwanese company Coretronic, VW, and Chinese firm Horizon Robotics.

According to information in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 is equipped with a single electric motor, most likely mounted on the rear axle. Its maximum power is 231 hp (170 kW). Note that the same electric motor is used in the current Volkswagen ID.Unyx 06 crossover (which has a maximum torque of 350 Nm). The top speed is limited to 180 km/h, while the capacity of the traction battery and the range on a single charge will be announced later.

The electric Volkswagen ID.Aura T6 crossover is expected to go on sale in the Chinese market before the end of this year.
