Startruck Launches ‘New Arocs 4153K Single Reduction Dump
As the paradigm in Korea’s construction and aggregate sites shifts from simple performance competition to “long-term operational stability” and “Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction,” a 25.5-ton dump truck optimized for Korean sites has been officially unveiled.
StarTruck Korea (CEO Dong Geun-tae), the official importer of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, introduced the new 25.5-ton dump model, ‘The new Arocs Tipper 4153K,’ optimized for Korea’s heavy-duty operating environment, on the 10th at the Mercedes-Benz Truck Star Center in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do.
This new model inherits the strengths of the 5th generation dump truck ‘New Arocs,’ which has built market trust since its launch in 2021, while being designed to respond to the evolving domestic heavy-duty dump truck market. Notably, it is the result of a three-year local research and development project by the German headquarters analyzing Korea’s harsh driving conditions, enhancing performance for heavy-load environments and operational stability.
Starting with this launch, StarTruck Korea plans to operate a roadshow touring major logistics and construction hubs nationwide, expanding touchpoints for actual field customers to experience the vehicle and communicate.
Korean-style heavy-duty design and efficiency crafted with German technology
The New Arocs 4153K Single Reduction Dump has been optimized from chassis to engine, targeting the operating environment of domestic aggregate and construction sites. The powertrain is equipped with the 3rd generation OM471 engine, boasting a maximum output of 530 horsepower and maximum torque of 265 kgf·m (2600 Nm). Additionally, the X-Pulse high-pressure common rail injection system reduces fuel injection quantity and increases durability, achieving both fuel efficiency and durability even in rough sites, while delivering output and torque even in low gear ranges. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3 (MPS3) transmission, newly equipped with PowerShift Advanced, minimizes power loss during gear shifts, maximizing work efficiency.
The underbody structure incorporates a 41-ton class heavy-duty design to withstand the impact of heavy-load work, with reinforced frame rigidity and a stable load distribution structure. Combined with a proven durable single reduction axle, it supports stable behavior without chassis twisting even on rugged terrain.
The upper dumping system adopts HYVA’s high-rigidity lightweight cylinders, recognized in the global market. The 149mm inner diameter cylinder and reinforced cradle structure support stable dumping operations on slopes or uneven surfaces.
Safety and convenience enhanced by sensor fusion technology
For safety on roads and sites, Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ cutting-edge safety technology package has also been introduced.
The 270-degree sensor fusion technology integrates Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA 6), Active Sideguard Assist 2 (ASGA 2), Frontguard Assist (FGA), and Active Distance Assist (AHA) to support the driver. It detects pedestrians and cyclists in blind spots, automatically decelerating and braking in the event of a collision risk.
Convenience features designed to reduce fatigue for drivers on long hauls are also noteworthy. Along with the 2nd generation Multimedia Cockpit Interactive providing an advanced infotainment environment, premium leather seats with ventilation function are installed, improving driver convenience and the working environment.
Reducing TCO burden with digital solutions and 5-year unlimited warranty
StarTruck Korea focused on lowering customers’ Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by combining digital solutions and service programs commensurate with the hardware’s completeness.
Fleetboard, a real-time connectivity service, analyzes vehicle idling time, average fuel efficiency, average load weight, and driver driving patterns to provide individual reports. Active utilization can achieve up to a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency, as well as maintenance cost reduction and accident prevention effects.
In the service sector, a dedicated contract program for dump truck customers, ‘StarCare 5+ Tipper,’ is being introduced. It covers key items necessary for vehicle maintenance, including regular inspections, engine oil and filter changes, as well as HYVA filter changes. Notably, it provides a ‘5-year, unlimited mileage warranty’ for the driveline and components, the core driving parts of dump trucks that frequently operate on rough terrain.
