New BMW iM4 Coupe 2028

Not long ago, the premiere of the conceptual sedan BMW M Concept Neue Klasse took place, which is a harbinger of the top version of the electric i3. We decided to imagine what a two-door version of a sports car with the index iM4 might look like, which would keep company with the traditional M4 coupe.
In March of this year, the completely new i3 sedan debuted, which replaced the electric version of the 3 Series in the G20 body and essentially became an independent model. Two weeks ago, the harbinger of its most powerful version with the presumed index iM3 was shown, and two-door versions of these electric vehicles are also expected. The top modification iM4 will be produced in parallel with the traditional M4 coupe, the current version of which was presented in the fall of 2020, and in early 2024 it received a facelift.

So far, not even prototypes of the Neue Klasse coupe have been spotted, but we can assume that their design will largely repeat the four-door versions. The coupe depicted in the renderings received slightly changed proportions due to the front axle being moved forward and the wheelbase being increased, which allows the sports car to look a bit more solid and substantial, as befits a model with a higher index. The shape of the side glazing is similar to classic BMWs with their signature “Hofmeister kink.” In addition, the coupe is depicted in the signature color of the BMW M division called Laguna Seca Blue and with new wheels with a massive central part, which can be considered a reference to some old M models.

The new iM4 coupe, as well as the iM3 sedan, will be built on the Neue Klasse platform. It is expected that the powertrain will consist of four electric motors with a total output of up to 1000 hp. For comparison, the current M4 coupe in the Competition version is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing 510 hp (650 Nm).

The premiere of the production BMW iM3 sedan is expected closer to 2028; the coupe version may be presented simultaneously with it or slightly later. Meanwhile, earlier this month BMW announced a decline in profits and cost-saving measures.
