BYD Qin Max Sedan Announced – the Largest in the Family

As is customary for BYD, the new four-door sedan will be offered with hybrid or electric powertrains. Sales are scheduled to begin in August.
The Qin is BYD’s family of affordable sedans belonging to the Dynasty lineup. Today, the hybrid four-door BYD Qin Plus and BYD Qin L are sold in the domestic market, along with their electric versions. In the spring, it became known that the family would be joined by the BYD Qin Max: its certificate was then added to the database of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Now the manufacturer has released official images of the Max, and the sedan has also been shown to Chinese journalists and bloggers. According to local media, the new model will hit the domestic market in August.

The company itself positions the Qin Max as a youth-oriented model, although its design is quite conservative. The only standout features are the “gills” in the front bumper. The sedan features elongated headlights united by a fairly massive insert, semi-hidden door handles, and a full-width taillight with an intertwined LED pattern. The BYD Qin Max is equipped with the God’s Eye B driver assistance suite with a lidar above the windshield.

The sedan’s length is 4866 mm, width is 1880 mm, and height is 1495 mm. Thus, in terms of the first dimension, the Qin Max surpasses all other four-doors in the family (their lengths range from 4720 to 4830 mm). The wheelbase is the same 2820 mm as the electric version of the BYD Qin L (the hybrid “L” has a wheelbase of 2790 mm). The new model comes with 18-inch wheels.

Inside, there is a two-spoke steering wheel and a two-tier central tunnel, the upper part of which houses a wireless charging pad, physical buttons, exposed cupholders, and a small dial for settings. Transmission control is handled by a steering-column stalk. The instrument screen is integrated into the dashboard, while the large multimedia tablet is “attached” to it. On the panel, on the passenger side, there is also a mount for a selfie camera.

The equipment list also includes a cooler box built into the central armrest, a head-up display, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats.

The BYD Qin Max will be offered as a hybrid or a full electric vehicle. According to Chinese media, the first modification features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (101 hp), a 238-hp electric motor, and a battery with a capacity of approximately 25.3 or 34.3 kWh. The electric version will be available with a motor producing 163 or 326 hp and a battery of 52.3 or 64.3 kWh.
We will learn all the details about the Qin Max after its August premiere.
