Xiaomi SkyNomad N70/N90 Large Crossover Prepares for Debut: For Business and Leisure

Xiaomi will soon unveil the first model of its new SkyNomad lineup — the large N90 crossover. Its advantages will include an aggressive price (lower than competitors) and a spacious cabin with enhanced transformation capabilities. The shortened version of the SkyNomad N90 crossover has been given the index N70.

The fate of the Xiaomi sub-brand SkyNomad, introduced earlier this week, has become clearer: it will not be fully independent but will instead designate a new line of vehicles within the Xiaomi brand. Xiaomi founder Lei Jun explained on his Weibo social media page why the new sub-brand was needed. According to him, the existing platform-sharing electric vehicles Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 are driver-oriented, while the SkyNomad lineup models will be more versatile, with an emphasis on passenger comfort and transformable cabin space.

The debut model of the SkyNomad lineup will be the large crossover with the index N90. Its first official images were published today, which, incidentally, largely coincide with the renderings drawn in June by our artist Nikita Chuiko.

Technical details about the upcoming new model are not yet available. According to preliminary unofficial information disseminated by Chinese media, the SkyNomad N90 will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain of the series type, where a gasoline engine located under the front hood is not mechanically connected to the wheels, operates as a generator, and charges the traction battery.

In the Chinese market, the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 will face fierce competition, as the segment of large electric and plug-in hybrid crossovers is currently oversaturated, with new models appearing every month. Nevertheless, Xiaomi is confident in success because the Xiaomi brand has a very loyal audience, and the financial power of the parent company, which produces smartphones and other consumer electronics, will allow setting low, possibly even dumping, prices for the SkyNomad N90. Simply put, Xiaomi is ready to sell the new model at a loss initially in order to increase its market share.

At the same time, Lei Jun promises that the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 will have very attractive consumer characteristics. The new crossover is positioned as a versatile mobile space that can be customized by the owner for current goals and tasks. The cabin by default has a 2+2+3 seating layout but can be transformed into a meeting room, mini-studio, or bedroom in minutes. Thus, the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 is more than just a large family crossover; its function is determined by the customer: on weekdays it can be a mobile office and relaxation room, and on weekends it can be used for a family trip. For those who need maximum sleeping space in the car during outdoor recreation, a camper version of the SkyNomad N90 with a pop-up roof will be offered.

The imminent debut of the SkyNomad N90 should help Xiaomi meet its 2026 target plan and sell 550,000 vehicles. The company is currently behind schedule in meeting the plan, despite continued sales growth. In the first half of this year, according to data from CnEVPost, Xiaomi sold 185,055 cars (+17.2% compared to the same period last year), and sales in 2025 amounted to 411,837 vehicles.

For now, Xiaomi cars are officially sold only in China, but in 2027, deliveries to foreign markets will begin, with Europe being a priority among them.

After the publication of our article, the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 crossover appeared in the electronic database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and along with it, the younger brother SkyNomad N70 was revealed — essentially a shortened version of the SkyNomad N90.

The overall length of the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 is 5285 mm, width — 1998 mm, height — 1825 mm, wheelbase — 3080 mm.

The overall length of the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 is 4960 mm, width — 1998 mm, height — 1765-1785 mm, wheelbase — 2950 mm.

The camper version will be based on the SkyNomad N90, with its height increased to 1925 mm. When the roof is raised, a tent with sleeping space for two people is formed above the body.

The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 will have both 5-seat and 7-seat versions, while the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 will be strictly 5-seat. The camper has a 5-seat cabin.

The 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine, operating as a generator, produces 152 hp. The SkyNomad N90 has two traction motors: the front one delivers 210 kW, the rear one — 100 kW, with a maximum combined power of 310 kW (422 hp), acceleration to 100 km/h takes 6.3 seconds, top speed — 190 km/h. The traction battery capacity is 76 kWh, and the range on a single charge without using the internal combustion engine is 370 km according to the WLTP cycle (363 km for the camper).

The base version of the Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 has only a front traction motor with a power of 210 kW (286 hp) and a battery capacity of 52 kWh, which provides a range of 270 km on the WLTP cycle. The dual-motor SkyNomad N70 with a power of 310 kW (422 hp) is equipped with a 76 kWh battery, with a range of 380 km on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle.
