Chinese People Are Said Not to Use Chinese: What Is Exported and What Stays for Themselves

On the internet, one can come across a common belief that the Chinese themselves fundamentally do not favor their own products. Allegedly, all the cars from China that we see on our roads are either uninteresting to the local market or were even created specifically for Russia. And if the technology is made exclusively for export, then everything associated with it—motor oils, technical fluids—by the same logic, should not be in demand in China itself.
In China, there is an industry award called LubTop, established by the specialized publication SinoLub with the support of state associations and scientific institutes. Essentially, it is the largest event in the lubricants sector. Every year, an expert council, which includes representatives from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, specialists from specialized laboratories, and leading universities, determines the best manufacturers. Hundreds of companies participate in the competition—both Chinese and international brands.
Interestingly, in the consumer categories, winners are chosen by end users, and retail sales share is also taken into account here. However, in the industrial segment, the decision is made based on the company’s actual contribution to the development of China’s economy and industry.
A notable participant in China’s energy market is the holding company Jiangsu Lopal Tech. Co., Ltd. (Longpan Technology). Its scope of activity covers three areas: battery technology, new energy, and, of course, petroleum products—even the most modern car cannot do without them.
The company acts as a contract manufacturer of batteries and fuel and lubricant materials for vehicles available on the domestic market. For a long time, the holding’s oil division produced lubricants on order for Chinese automakers. With its own material and technical base, organizing its own production turned out to be simple—thus, Lopal motor oils were born.

In a short time, Lopal took a leading position in the fuel and lubricants segment within China. Moreover, the company was one of the first in the world to receive certification under the latest API SQ standard, ahead of American competitors. The award organizers could not overlook this fact. At a gala ceremony in Beijing, the holding company Jiangsu Lopal Tech. Co., Ltd. was honored with the national China Lubricant Industry Award and was recognized in two key categories of the prestigious LubTop ranking.

Lopal’s achievements include a win in the “Top 10 Lubricant Brands in China” category. This cements the brand’s high reputation at the national level and highlights its tangible contribution to the development of the country’s automotive industry. And in the “Consumer Choice in the Passenger Transport Segment” category, the award is given to only one brand—the one whose products have truly earned the trust of end customers and proven their quality in real-world use.

Jiangsu Lopal Tech. Co., Ltd. has been operating since 2003 and today ranks among the largest manufacturers of motor oils and technical fluids in China. The brand’s products are recommended by JAC, Sinotruk, and Zoomlion, and for Geely vehicles, Lopal oils have obtained official status—their use allows the warranty to be maintained. The lubricants are certified to API SQ and ACEA standards and are supplied to more than 20 countries.
At the core of Lopal oils are three patented technologies—Vis-Power, HyperZING, and ActivZING—developed in collaboration with Lubrizol. They are aimed at engine protection, friction reduction, and improved fuel efficiency. The manufacturer also invests in eco-friendly developments and collaborates with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, reinforcing its position as a technological leader in the industry.
The LubTop awards have become a kind of indicator of trust from end consumers and the country’s government. Lopal not only remains among China’s leading brands but also stays in demand among those who consciously choose modern and effective lubricants. And yes, cars there are not disposable. They are maintained and kept in families for several years.
