Volkswagen ID. Buzz Minivan Transformed into a Cozy Camper

The German brand’s model has received the Good-Night package, which includes a bed frame and a foldable mattress – 2.0 x 1.2 meters. The cost of this package is known.

The passenger version of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz minivan and the cargo variant ID. Buzz Cargo, both featuring a fully electric powertrain, debuted in March 2022. In spring 2024, the German brand expanded the family with a “performance” all-wheel-drive modification bearing the GTX suffix. In February, a full-fledged passenger-cargo version with a partition behind the second row of seats joined the lineup, and now the manufacturer has unveiled a camper based on the minivan.

For the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, a new package called Good-Night (translatable from English as a wish for “good night”) is now offered. It transforms the minivan into an “eco-friendly camper” suitable for comfortable overnight stays and outdoor relaxation.

This camper based on the ID. Buzz comes with a bed frame (positioned above the rear seats) and a compatible foldable mattress measuring 2.0 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width. Additionally, this modification includes window blinds for darkening, a foldable table and a pair of chairs, as well as ventilation grilles for the front side windows.

Unlike campers based on other Volkswagen models, the ID. Buzz does not feature additional built-in furniture or a mini-kitchen. However, thanks to the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, the van effectively turns into a mobile power station: it can supply 230 volts (with a power output of up to 2000 W), sufficient to run a portable refrigerator, coffee machine, stove, or charge an e-bike.

The camper also gets a new “Overnight” mode, which assumes that the ID. Buzz’s traction battery can power the climate control for up to 48 hours: this will keep the cabin warm in winter and cool in summer. Simultaneously, this mode reduces unnecessary lighting and certain functions, not only creating a calmer sleeping environment but also optimizing energy consumption.

The technology in the Volkswagen ID. Buzz with the Good-Night package is, evidently, standard. As a reminder, on the European market, the model is offered with a single electric motor producing 170 or 286 hp, while the top-tier GTX version features a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 340 hp. The van is equipped with batteries of 59, 79, and 86 kWh capacities (depending on the modification), with a maximum range of 498 km (calculated under the WLTP cycle).

It is known that in Germany, the cost of the Good-Night package for the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is 2,600 euros, equivalent to approximately 221,200 rubles at the current exchange rate. The price of the minivan on the domestic market today ranges from 49,998 to 70,049 euros (about 4.25 – 5.96 million rubles).
