Jeep is preparing two compact crossovers and a large SUV for Europe in partnership with Dongfeng
According to the plan, three new models should join the Old World lineup by 2030. Two crossovers will be positioned a step above the Jeep Avenger, while the upcoming SUV has been placed in the same tier as the Recon.
Automotive giant Stellantis plans to expand the European lineup of the American brand Jeep. To date, it includes the compact crossover Avenger and the mid-size Compass, with the Recon SUV already preparing to join it. As it turns out, there are three more new models in the pipeline – two compact crossovers and one large SUV. The company is keeping the names of all three new models under wraps for now.
According to the manufacturer’s plan, the expansion of the Jeep range will take place by 2030. As reported by the British publication Autocar, all three new models will be offered with different powertrain options and will also feature all-wheel drive. According to the head of Jeep’s European division, Fabio Catone, the upcoming models will align with the brand’s “product formula, off-road heritage, and unique design language.”
It is reported that the two new crossovers will sit higher in the hierarchy of the brand’s European lineup than the current entry-level Jeep Avenger. At the same time, one of them, designated on the plan as “B-SUV Compact,” will be similar in length but wider than the “Avenger,” while the second – “B-SUV Large” – will be larger and will sit just one step below the Jeep Compass. It is possible that one of the new models will be the successor to the Renegade (the model was retired in North America and Europe, but it is still present, for example, in Brazil).
The two upcoming crossovers will be based on the STLA One platform, which we detailed in May 2026 when Stellantis unveiled its new five-year development strategy, FaSTLAne 2030. It is known that the first new model on this “platform” will appear in 2027. The automotive giant intends to establish production of the two announced crossovers in Europe.
Another new model for the European market will be a large SUV, designated on the plan as “D-SUV,” the name of which the company has not yet revealed either. It is reported that it will be developed jointly with the Chinese company Dongfeng (which, by the way, also has a joint project with Stellantis for developing new Peugeot models). According to the plan, production of another upcoming Jeep – with global model status – will be established in China.
It will be based on a platform developed by the “Celestial” partner, while Jeep will be responsible for the design. According to the publication, the model will most likely feature a hybrid powertrain (PHEV or REx). There is a possibility that the closest relative of such a Jeep will be the M-Hero SUV (also known under the brand name Mengshi): the first model was the M-Hero 917 in 2023 (in Russia – M-Hero I), followed by the M-Hero M817 in 2025.
It is worth noting that Jeep currently cannot sell the classic Wrangler SUV in Europe due to non-compliance with harmful emissions requirements. However, according to Fabio Catone, the company will continue to look for ways to bring this model back to the Old World market in the future.
