Recently, the new Audi A3 family was officially unveiled, still available in sedan, hatchback, and crossover body styles, with performance versions continuing to offer S and RS variants. This marks the second mid-cycle facelift for the Audi A3 family. The overall exterior design of the new car has not changed much, but it will feature a completely new interior design, along with upgrades to driver assistance systems and the intelligent cockpit. It is reported that the new car is expected to first launch in Europe in September 2026; the five-door hatchback version starts at €31,850, the five-door plug-in hybrid version starts at €45,350, the S3 starts at €57,200, and the RS 3 (Parameters | Inquiry) starts at €68,500 (approximately RMB 246,000 to 530,000).

The exterior design of the new Audi A3 has not changed much, with the main updates focused on the refreshed matrix LED headlight light signature styles. The new model will offer four daytime running light signature styles, which the driver can set via the central screen. Three of these styles are new designs for the standard models; the iconic checkered flag light signature of the RS 3 is retained, and the S3 model also has its own exclusive light signature settings.

In addition to the traditional two-door and four-door sedan designs, the new Audi A3 also offers the allstreet crossover model, which has a ground clearance 3mm higher than the standard hatchback version, a higher seating position, and is equipped with exclusive off-road styling packages. As high-performance versions of the Audi A3, the S3 and RS 3 will feature more powerful powertrain configurations and chassis setups.

The interior of the new Audi A3 has been redesigned, featuring a curved dual-screen setup on the center console, integrating an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch MMI multimedia system central screen. With the adoption of the dual screens, the width of the horizontal decorative trim on the center console has significantly increased, enhancing the visual width of the cabin. The trim is available in four material options, including carbon fiber, Dinamica microfiber, and two types of fabric.

The multifunction steering wheel of the new Audi A3 features a new three-spoke design with a flat top and bottom. The RS 3 version’s steering wheel is also equipped with a red center marker and mode switch buttons. At the bottom of the center console, there is a storage slot for wireless phone charging, which is tilted towards the driver’s side and supports 25W wireless fast charging for phones. The ambient lighting also has several default color configurations to match different model trims.
In terms of driver assistance systems, the new Audi A3’s systems have been upgraded and consolidated into three different configurations: Tech, Tech Plus, and Tech Pro. All these configurations come with an enhanced adaptive cruise control assist system, capable of adaptive cruise control and lane keeping at speeds up to 210 km/h. The system can recognize road markings, road edge structures, and surrounding traffic, and features a turn-signal-assisted lane change function. The driver assistance system also supports automatic braking at red lights and automatic start at green lights. For the first time, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping functions are linked with cloud-based traffic data sharing, allowing the vehicle to automatically adjust its speed based on the average traffic flow speed on the road. Relying on online road condition data, the system can still maintain stable lane centering even if the road lacks clear lane markings.
The parking assist function of the Tech Plus and Tech Pro versions can identify parking spaces via cameras, allowing the vehicle to autonomously complete parallel and perpendicular parking maneuvers, as well as exiting. The Tech Pro version’s parking assist also supports remote parking, where the driver can get out of the car in advance and use their phone to maneuver the vehicle into the parking space. The new Audi A3 also introduces a memory parking function, which can record parking routes in underground garages, allowing the vehicle to automatically drive to the target parking space and complete the parking maneuver. The MMI multimedia system can store up to 5 parking routes, with a single route memory length of 50 meters.

Regarding intelligent cockpit features, the new Audi A3 is equipped with Audi connect remote connectivity functions. Through the mobile app, users can view the vehicle’s parking location, synchronously display the status of the handbrake and lights, as well as reminders for open windows or doors. The myAudi app can also display information such as vehicle mileage, fuel level, remaining range, tire pressure, oil level, and maintenance intervals. It supports remote activation of the parking heater, remote lock/unlock, and other functions. On-demand subscription upgrade services are also available on the new Audi A3, with a newly added paid option to unlock an audio optimization package, which can enhance low-frequency performance, balance multi-source audio volume, and optimize compressed audio quality. Optional simulated surround sound, concert hall, recording studio, and other acoustic sound fields are available.

In terms of powertrain, the new Audi A3 offers a variety of options. The gasoline and diesel engines are available in 116 hp and 150 hp power versions. The plug-in hybrid system offers 150 kW and 200 kW power versions, with a WLTP electric range of 143 km and support for DC fast charging. The maximum load capacity of the hybrid version has been increased to 1700 kg, 300 kg more than the previous model.

The performance versions, S3 and RS 3, come standard with the quattro all-wheel-drive system and a torque distributor, allowing for stepless dynamic distribution of rear wheel torque to further enhance handling performance. In terms of power, the S3 is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing a maximum of 333 hp, while the RS 3 is equipped with a 2.5T turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine producing a maximum of 400 hp.
