Full-size Toyota Sequoia SUV gets updates following its related pickup truck
A large SUV from a Japanese brand, designed for the American market, has received an “off-road” Trailhunter variant.
Toyota has been producing its current full-size SUV under the name Sequoia since 2022, and its closest relative is the Tundra pickup truck, which was recently refreshed for the 2027 model year. It is worth noting that at the end of last year, Toyota Sequoia sales in the States grew slightly: dealers sold about 26.2 thousand units, which is 0.3% more than in 2024. And in the first half of 2026, the model sold over 13.9 thousand units (14% more than in January-June of last year).
Now Toyota’s American office has announced updates for the 2027 model year Sequoia. The three-row SUV received a refreshed front end with a redesigned large grille and a different bumper with new rectangular fog lights integrated into it. Some versions also received decorative chrome inserts.
Inside, the changes are the same as those of the Tundra pickup truck. This means that the refreshed Sequoia has added a 14-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system with a revised voice control function to its standard equipment list. It also includes a built-in dashcam that records 20-second clips manually or automatically using exterior cameras, and the Safety Sense 4.0 suite of safety systems.
The 2027 model year Toyota Sequoia will still include the SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone trims, and a Trailhunter package has been added to create an “off-road” version. This variant is based on the SR5 trim but with a number of changes.
Thus, the Sequoia Trailhunter received: bronze alloy wheels fitted with Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, upgraded OME (Old Man Emu) suspension, different front shock absorbers, and additional underbody protection. The package also includes the Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control systems, and a rear differential lock. The equipment list for all versions of the SUV also includes a built-in 2.4 kW inverter that can be used to power camping gear.
Toyota’s American office said nothing about the mechanicals of the refreshed Sequoia; apparently, they remain unchanged. It is worth noting that the current large SUV is equipped with the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, which is based on a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine working in tandem with an electric motor. The combined output of this system is 443 hp, and the maximum torque is 790 Nm.
The company has promised to announce prices for the 2027 model year Toyota Sequoia this coming fall. The starting price of the current full-size SUV in the US is $65,725 (equivalent to approximately 5.13 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the top-tier version costs at least $86,135 (about 6.72 million rubles).
