Bentley Opens State-of-the-Art New Paint Plant

Bentley Motors officially opened its state-of-the-art new paint factory at its Crewe headquarters, welcoming Anne, Princess Royal of the British royal family.

The opening marks a key milestone in the Dream Factory transformation being driven under Bentley’s ‘Beyond100+’ strategy, providing an opportunity to establish a production system for the future product portfolio and bring to life the vision for sustainable luxury car manufacturing.

Princess Anne toured Bentley’s design studio, the new paint factory, and production facilities, and met with employees responsible for vehicle development and production. As a Royal Warrant holder that has supplied vehicles to the British royal family, Bentley reaffirmed its long-standing connection with the monarchy through this visit. The occasion also showcased advanced manufacturing technology, sustainable production methods, and an ongoing commitment to investing in the future of British luxury car manufacturing.

The newly opened paint factory is Bentley’s latest production facility, covering a total floor area of 12,500 square metres. It is a core facility realising the Dream Factory strategy and has been designed as the central hub of the restructuring of the Crewe production site under the Beyond100+ strategy.

The new paint factory is the world’s first to apply Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to the vehicle painting process, and has been designed with production efficiency and flexibility in mind, as well as sustainability and the working environment. It supports approximately 100 exterior colour options and new bespoke painting processes, and features advanced thermal management systems and intelligent automation equipment that improve productivity and working conditions while reducing energy consumption, waste, and emissions, underpinning sustainable luxury car production.

The new paint factory will serve as a key production hub for the future product portfolio, handling the painting process for the Continental GT, Continental GTC, and Flying Spur, as well as Torcal, Bentley’s fourth model. Torcal is the brand’s first pure electric vehicle and the world’s first luxury urban SUV, inheriting Bentley’s craftsmanship and performance that has continued since its founding in 1919, and is a core model set to lead the brand’s new era of electrification.

Under its Beyond100+ strategy, Bentley Motors will continue the phased modernisation of its production facilities, building a sustainable luxury car production system and strengthening next-generation manufacturing capabilities.
