L&F Signs Mid-to-Long-Term LFP Cathode Material Supply Contract with U.S. ‘CoreShell
L&F, a global specialty secondary battery materials company, announced that it has signed a mid-to-long-term supply contract with U.S. battery technology company Coreshell Technologies for LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cathode materials.
L&F secured this contract based on its capability to supply LFP cathode materials that can respond to U.S. supply chain and origin regulations, including OBBB. By securing a non-China supply chain that meets the stringent standards required in defense and strategic industries such as the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act), the company is strengthening its competitive edge across regulation-sensitive industries.
Coreshell is a battery technology company headquartered in California, U.S., developing next-generation battery platforms utilizing U.S.-produced metal silicon. It has been conducting technology validation and sample supply activities targeting global OEM automakers, and is expanding its business scope to electric vehicles, grid-scale energy storage systems, and defense applications.
Through this contract, Coreshell has established a battery supply system that excludes Chinese minerals and components from cathode to anode and meets U.S. domestic production and regulatory compliance standards. In particular, it has secured a large-scale production base capable of responding to supply chain requirements in key demand sectors such as defense, electric vehicles, and grid-scale energy storage systems.
Jonathan Tan, CEO of Coreshell, stated, “This contract is an important milestone in realizing our ‘non-China supply chain-based battery’ strategy that we have been pursuing,” adding, “We have laid the foundation to stably supply batteries that meet the highest level of regulatory compliance standards demanded by our customers.”
Through this collaboration, L&F’s LFP cathode materials are expanding their application scope beyond the existing ESS-centric use to mobility and defense sectors, broadening their application base within global strategic industries.
Ryu Seung-heon, CFO of L&F, stated, “Securing this North American customer is an achievement that once again demonstrates that L&F’s LFP business has a stable and sustainably expandable business foundation,” adding, “Based on our two-track strategy encompassing ultra-high nickel NCM and LFP, we will broadly respond from premium electric vehicles to the mass market, and contribute to building the stable and competitive non-China supply chain that global customers require.”
