Urban Automotive Created a Cool Carbon Fiber Pickup Based on the Land Rover Defender 110

The new project from British tuning studio Urban Automotive is called the Widetrack Avontur, and it made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Last year, Heritage Customs, a studio under the AM Group holding company, announced a pickup truck with a double-row cab based on the Land Rover Defender 130 SUV and promised to showcase it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but instead, a slightly different project saw the light of day—namely, a single-row cab pickup based on the commercial version of the Land Rover Defender 110.

The Widetrack Avontur is positioned as a luxury conversion for enthusiasts, not as a “workhorse”—it’s unlikely anyone would want to load manure or bricks into a carbon-fiber-lined bed. To transform the Land Rover Defender 110 into a pickup, Urban Automotive’s engineers had to make significant changes to the body’s structural framework and add additional reinforcements to ensure sufficient rigidity after removing parts of the pillars and roof.

Most of the visible exterior trim parts of the Widetrack Avontur are made of carbon fiber, including the wheel arch extensions, a new sculpted hood, the rear cab wall, and a spoiler above it. The rear cab wall features a large viewing window, providing excellent visibility. The bed includes a carbon fiber bottle holder and built-in cup holders for picnics. The standard wheels have been replaced with new luxurious 24-inch bronze alloy wheels.

The interior of the demo model has been reupholstered in leather and suede, with the stock seats replaced by sporty bucket seats with slim backs. Any customer can order a custom interior finish to suit their taste and budget.

Urban Automotive has not disclosed the technical specifications of the pickup, but it is generally clear that it can be any of the options available for the original Land Rover Defender, which, by the way, has just undergone another update.

The price of the Widetrack Avontur is not mentioned in the press release, but anyone interested can already place a pre-order for this striking new model on the company’s website.
