Updated BMW X2 2027
A week ago, fresh spy photos of the updated German crossover were published online, revealing quite significant differences from the current model.
The compact X2 SUV was first introduced in the fall of 2017, with a facelifted model hitting the market in 2020. Today, the second-generation crossover, which debuted in the fall of 2023, is rolling off the assembly line. The time for a scheduled update is approaching, and test prototypes are already being caught by spy photographers.
The main changes will occur at the front: the coupe-like crossover will receive a completely new “face” in the current Neue Klasse style, with narrow “nostrils” for the radiator grille (or its imitation). It is already evident that, as with the platform-sharing X1, the headlights are significantly tapered toward the center. A different LED daytime running light graphic from the new iX3 and X5 can also be expected. As for the rear, a new internal layout for the taillights is visible, though they will retain their shape. A narrow horizontal LED strip will be placed at the top, with a pair of slanted quadrilaterals below.
Like its sibling the BMW X1, the coupe-like X2 is built on the front-wheel-drive UKL2 platform, which is also used by the 1 Series hatchbacks and the Mini Countryman. Most likely, the crossover will retain most of its current powertrains, which include 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel engines (the most powerful version, the M35i xDrive, delivers 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque). There are also two fully electric variants with outputs of 204 hp (247 Nm) and 313 hp (494 Nm).
